Brennan & Carr

Another staple from my meat eating days… Brennon & Carr in Sheepshead Bay is famous for their old fashioned, rare (though this photo doesn’t show it), thinly sliced, roast beef sandwich dunked in a vat of its own juice (or, as some call it “au jus”). The appetizer would generally be one of these suckers, some cheese fries and a coke, and then as the waiter came over to bring us our check, he was usually astonished that they instead of the check we were motioning for more food, which in my case meant a “Gargulio Baurger” (cheeseburger with dripping wet roast beef on top), mozzarella sticks, and another coke.
